IMF Channel ID

This has to be one of my favorite channel IDs that we have created at IMF. Creative Director, Brian Covalt asked me to collaborate and come up with a concept. We brought in Adam Muto to help us animate the characters, and Luis Narino composed the music that really brought this piece together.

IMF Channel ID 2

This was the first channel ID I made for IMF. The idea was to use objects and symbols to create something that represented the IMF brand.

IMF Channel ID 3

When I got back from New York, Pen Ward and Adam were already working on a promising channel ID for IMF, and they asked me to animate the background. All the animation was done in Flash, then re-edited with AfterEffects.

Hello World Intro

The intro was made a few years ago by Brand New School. When I joined IMF, Brian asked me to collaborate with him and make some minor changes. I grabbed a steam bowl and a couple of spare parts from my old printer, made the satellite and fonts, and then transitioned the reveal of the show.

IMF Channel ID 4

This was another channel ID we made with Pen and Adam. It features two hobos relaxing by a campfire and jamming out tunes. The moon-boy upstairs can't stand the racket, so he decides to wage a war against them. I was in charge of animated effects and compositing. The illustrative backgrounds were made by our talented colleague Julian Narino, who now lives and works in Portland.

One of the producers from IMF asked me to come up with a promo package, and I asked some hand models (Szu Hua and Patrick) to collaborate with me on this little stop-mo piece.

IMF Wallpaper

I got this concept for an animated wallpaper from Jordan Rosenfeld, who then left for Germany. So this one's for you. Hope you're freezing your ass off! :)

IMF Feed Center Version 1

When I first joined IMF, Brian asked me to come up with a few ideas for a new show called The Feed Center. I created two concept boards, and he was so pleased with them that I ended up using them both. Here's the first one.

Nylonmotion

The Format "The Compromise"

We animated this music video in 2006. I was able to execute this with Ashley Lawery's origami designs by using floral wires and a Nikon digital SLR camera. This was made at Nylonmotion with Joe Montalbano as the producer and Bryan Lee as the director. I was in charge of directing the animation with the help from some of my close colleagues... Ben Michaels, Sarah Cameron, Audrey Oh, and Young-Min Son...Thanks for all the hard work!

Pontiac "Rush City"

After we wrapped up with The Format's music video, we started working on this pitch package for Poniac's new Solstice. The idea was to bring a real DC character named Rush into an animated music video. This was my first time animating a 2D character into a 3D world.

Fred-ex

Fred-ex was a project given to us by Channel Frederator. We had to come up with a 10 second idea about a robot, from it's perspective, being at a bbq. Geoff and I came up with this.

Personal

Voodoun

Princess Grace Foundation was kind enough to provide me with a grant to work on this final film at CalArts. I downshot this with a digital camera as I drew them on a piece of cardboard and erasing them frame by frame. The film was never quite finished. But its on my ToDo lists.

BopCity

Jazz Chick by Bob Kaufman

Music from her breast vibrating
Soundseared into burnished velvet.
Silent hips deceiving fools.
Rivulets of trickling ecstacy
from the alabaster pools of jazz
eyes more atriculately silent
than medusa's thousand tongues.
a bridge of eyes, consenting smiles
reveal her presence singing
of cool rememberance, happy balls
wrapped in swinging
jazz
her music....
